Kaitiaki Guardian Series - The Living Veil

from $110.00

The Living Veil as with the other works in the Kaitiaki Series, is intentionally open to personal interpretation. You may see wings, an insect, a mask, a ceremonial object, a face or an entirely imagined creature. The surrounding lines might appear as energy, roots, woven threads, pathways or something passing through the space behind the guardian.

There is no single answer.

The work asks us to look beyond the obvious, to consider the small, persistent forms of life that surround us and the unseen connections that bind living things together.

Kaitiaki of the Living Veil is part of the Kaitiaki Series, a collection exploring guardians hidden within natural and everyday forms. Each work begins with something observed in the world and is transformed into an imagined presence somewhere between nature, memory, spirit and apparition.

Kaitiaki of the Living Veil began with moss, a quiet, often overlooked form of life that grows across surfaces, gathers moisture and slowly transforms the places it inhabits.

The Kaitiaki are not necessarily figures we recognise.

Sometimes they are found in the things we almost overlook.

Sometimes they are the veil itself.

Available as

  • Fine Art Print

  • Professionally Framed with standard glass

  • Multiple size options

  • Museum-quality archival printing
